Bio
George White, M.A., is a journalist, author, and communications consultant with expertise on issues related to education, health, and business. He is co-author of “Expect the Most – Provide the Best” (Scholastic Inc., 2014), a book that explores the impact of innovation and high expectations on academic achievement. He is also co-author of “A Call for Change” (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2012), an education reform anthology. In addition, he edited “At the Crossroads of Fear and Freedom” (Michigan State University Press, 2016), a book on the life of Robert L. Green, an educator-activist who worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on voting rights and helped lead decades-long efforts to address educational inequities as a civil rights issue. White has helped manage communications institutes at UCLA and the University of Southern California. He also produced reports on community economic development for the Ford Foundation and developed strategies to promote initiatives related to health and education on behalf of The California Wellness Foundation and The Annie. E. Casey Foundation. Moreover, he edited research exploring ways to improve the education, health, and life prospects of young men of color and wrote “A Way Out,” a 2006 public policy report published by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. White is a former Los Angeles Times reporter and editor. He helped the paper win two Pulitzers in the team coverage category.
